Well, what can we say\u2026 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We thought that we were bouncing back from losing our credit card processor, but there’s a ton of stuff going on in the world right now, and it seems a day doesn’t go by where it impacts us. Unfortunately, it never seems to be in a positive way. Lately, we’ve had three hits to our continued existence!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tariffs & Shipping<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

As previously mentioned, we temporarily halted shipments<\/a><\/strong> to the USA prior to Trump ending the “de minimis exemption” for parcels entering the United States until more clarity and systems are implemented, as we could not ship anything with certainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We thought that things would quickly get sorted out… but no. They’ve gotten worse. Since then, 30 countries have stopped shipping to the USA, and the US courts are sending his tariffs up to the Supreme Court to decide if they are legal or not. In the meantime, we are all stuck with either a flat rate $200 fee per package<\/strong> or a 35% tariff plus a 10% processing fee for customs clearance per package<\/strong>. Until things change, we can’t expect you or us to charge\/pay 40% more per comic!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Printing<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Because of the aforementioned Terrible Tariff Troubles, we have to halt our plans to revive printed titles. Sadly, we were ready to print both The Brigayde #11<\/strong><\/em> and Gay for Slay #4<\/em>,<\/strong> but now have to wait until the tariff issues are either resolved, simplified, or reduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Age Verification<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

As you’re probably aware, different states in the USA<\/strong> have had a patchwork of age verification laws for a while. Because we are based in Canada, we didn’t concern ourselves too much with them. However, recently, all of the United Kingdom<\/strong> passed “The Online Safety Act,”<\/strong> which carries significant penalties for providing “harmful content” to minors and is punishable worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In looking into it, we realized that we are at risk from both the UK and the US laws. As most of you know, Class Comics is just the two of us. We don’t have a legion of lawyers or unlimited legal defense funds to fight off a lawsuit. If we want to keep making comics and keep a roof over our head, it’s important to keep within the provisions of the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As such, we’ve turned on geographic blockers<\/strong> for the United Kingdom and the following US states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While our Digital Editions are available on our Class Comics Just for Fans Store<\/span><\/a> to people in those regions, it’s not good enough for us. We’re looking into creating an alternate solution that will let readers in restrictive locations legally shop with us.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re trying to stay positive! We hope to keep Class Comics alive and kicking as long as we can!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
